Seit 2005 kursiert der neue Flugsport “Air Racing” im Rahmen der “RedBull Air Races” um die Welt. Im ersten Jahr standen 7 Rennen auf dem Kalender: Abu Dhabi, Rotterdam, Zeltweg, Rock of Cashel in Irland, Longleat, Budapest und San Francisco.
Dieses Jahr machte der Event das erste Mal auch in der Schweiz halt, und zwar in Interlakten (siehe Google Earth).

Ziel des Rennen ist es, den aufgestellten Parcours möglichst schnell zu absolvieren. Dabei stellen die “Pylons” die zu durchfliegenden Tore (sog. “Air Gates”) dar. Die Air Gates werden auf zwei Arten aufgestellt: parallel zueinander – der Pilot muss durch die beiden Tore hindurch fliegen, oder als Schikane bestehend aus drei Pylonen, durch die sich der Pilot schlängeln muss. Dabei gibt es Strafsekunden wenn der Pilot ein Gate berührt oder bei unkorrektem Passieren.

Nach einem erfolgreichen Qualifying und Elimination Round konnte sich der Brite Paul Bonhomme aus dem Team “Red Bull” gegen Mike Mangold in einem spannenden Finale durchsetzen. Bonhomme führt nun in den World Series weiterhin mit einem Punkt. Bereits am 28./29. Juli hat Mangold die Möglichkeit in London die Führung zu übernehmen.

Die neue Flugsportart hat anfangs in der Schweiz für Furore gesorgt. Bei den aktuellen Diskussionen um den Klimaschutz ist es begreiflich, wenn sich Umweltschützer gegen die Umweltbelastung durch die Zuschauer und der Flugzeuge wehren. Die SBB hat darauf schnell reagiert und stand am ganzen Wochenende mit mehreren Extra-Zügen im Einsatz. Die erwartete Besucherzahl von 140′000 wurde laut Red Bull nicht erreicht. Auch das befürchtete Verkehrschaos blieb aus.

Fazit: Allesamt ein sehr innovativer, spannender und gut organisierter Event. Allerdings lässt sich über die Akzeptanz in der Bevölkerung noch diskutieren

In Tagen wie diesen bin ich froh, einfach mal abschalten zu können, nach hinten lehnen und den Sound aus den Surround-Lautsprechern klirren lassen.
Mein Favorit für sentimentale Momente ist momentan “All good things” von Nelly Furtado’s neustem Album “Loose” (erschienen im September 2006).

Nelly ist bereits seit ihrem Debüt-Album Folklore unter meinen grossen Favoriten. Doch auch die neuste Scheibe kann gut mit den Vorgängern mithalten, auch wenn sie an die lyrische Tiefe von Folklore nicht heranreicht. Ihr neuer Song “All Good Things (come to an End)” ist einfach fantastisch. An diesem Song schrieb Chris Martin von Coldplay mit, daher wundert’s mich nicht, dass mir das gefällt.

Wer kennt sie nicht: Unter der Kategorie “Show & Comedy” produziert der Deutsche TV Sender Pro7 seit längerem einige Shows wie zum Beispiel “Die 100 nervigsten Sommerhist” oder “Die 100 nervigsten Bands”.

Der aktuellste Knaller wurde bereits 2004 lanciert und geht in nun die 3. Runde:
“Die 100 nervigsten Deutschen“.
Auf dem ehrenhaften 1. Platz ist niemand anderer als der Leadsänger von Tokio Hotel “Bill Kaulitz”. Bravo, dem hab ich nichts auszusetzen.
Der zweite Platz belegt “Tatjana Gsell” (wer kennt sie nicht?!) dicht gefolgt vom deutschen Profi-Rapper “Sido”.
Mal abgesehen vom Unterhaltungsfaktor der Show finde ich doch die Idee ganz lustig. Wieso soll man sich nicht mal über das eigene Volk lustig machen?
Mit der kompetenten Jury bestehend aus Elton, Zacherl und ein paar anderen hochkarätigen Szene-Kennern ist gestern Abend die zweite Ausgabe der Comedy-Show über die Bühne.
Liebe Deutsche, liebes Pro7-Team, damit habt ihr mir euer Land um ein paar Punkte symphatischer gemacht!

Scheinbar lässt sich mit solchen Ideen mächtig Kohle machen…
Nunja, ich mache mich desshalb mal auf die Suche nach den “nervigsten 100 Comedy-Shows” und den “nervigsten 100 Werbe-Unterbrechungen”.
Und wenn ich nicht fündig werde gibt es sicher noch “die 100 nervigsten Kübelböcks”!

The weekend before last, my parents went to a celebration of a friend of them.
On this celebration, they had a dress code and a theme who decided the look of the tables and other decoration.
So my parents had to search for a traditional swiss costume and they got one.

Hello World! I just discovered how to connect to the internet with my pocketpc (got Windows Mobile 5 installed).
My workstation is an IBM T42 (thanks for not having blowing-up batteries ) with an integrated bluetooth module.
Actually, I work with kubuntu 6.06.

First you need the core bluetooth packages for communicating with your bluetooth device:

$ apt-get install bluez-utils bluez-pin

After that, enable pand to start at boot:

$ vi /etc/default/bluez-utils

Change the lines below:

PAND_ENABLED=1
PAND_OPTIONS="--listen --role NAP"

To enable pin exchange, you need to give a 4-digit number:

$ vi /etc/bluetooth/pin
1234

Now when you connect with your device to your nap (Network Access Point, in my case the t42),
pand executes the dev-up script. It also creates a network interface (bnep0) for network access to the
device.
This is practical, so can add a little script to enable ip-forwarding:

Create the directory and add the script:

$ mkdir /etc/bluetooth/pan

$ vi /etc/bluetooth/pan/dev-up

The ip address in the script below is for our small network between the nap and the device.
Just give an address which is non-routable.
Remember: The subnetmask on your device has to accord to the one on your nap.

Add execute-flag to the dev-up script:

$ chmod +x /etc/bluetooth/pan/dev-up

Now we need a little tool for dns forwarding:

$ apt-get install dnsmasq

Now just restart the bluetooth services on your nap:

$ /etc/init.d/bluez-utils restart

From this point, the server or laptop or whatever is open for pan-challenge.
We only have to configure the network interface on the pocketpc:

- IP Address: 192.168.100.2
- SubnetMask: 255.255.255.0
- Gateway: 192.168.100.1
- DNS-Server: 192.168.100.1

Now enable bluetooth on the device and open a new partnership with the nap.
Use the pin, which you gave in /etc/bluetooth/pin.

Yeah, you got it. If everything works as designed, you’re online now.

Hey, do we have to become scared about blowing-up batteries?

First, big airlines ban drinks and juices from planes because of someones suspicion, that you can blow up one with a small amount of liquids. There again, perfumes are allowed in our carry-on baggage, same as little cosmetics (Source: n-tv.de).
That’s funny: You can always look pretty and smell romantic, but you have to stay thirsty. Thanks dear women!

Newest case in the long history of banning articles from planes: Notebook Batteries. Not yet, but experts are scared about big amounts in bodies of jumbo jets.
Actually, it’s possible that batteries begin to burn (or even blow up?) suddenly.

Therefore, Sony and some redistributors are recalling their notebooks in huge masses.
Alltogether about 8 billion pieces are affected of this misery.

Lenovo expects their financial impact of the recall “minimal” because Sony is supporting affected resellers financially. What about Sony?

Today, a friend of mine (TheKas) started to stop smoking.
This made me think about smoking.
Why do people (me inclusive ) smoke? Is it for pleasure or fun or coolness?
I couldn’t find any answer.
Most of people say: “If I really like to stop smoking, I could it easy!”. Hm, so do it? “Hahaha, but I don’t want to, I feel good!” - was the reaction.
Ok, sometimes I got the same way…

But, could you tell me why people smoke?
